Cabin Bath
Who should I hire to find out what work needs to be done to complete the cabin my parents' unfinished log?
My father began building a house in beginning of 1980. It is a 2-story cabin kit with a basement. The main plot structure kit is complete, but never completed the additional work inside the home to make appropriate to live there any electrical and plumbing work completed, but the items I know are unfinished floors, drywall, kitchen cabinets and countertops, lighting. He did not finish the master bedroom and bathroom enough so that they can spend the night there occasionally. What kind of training would be best to use for a list track of the items remaining to be done to the house can be considered just and appropriate to live in? My goal is to finish the dream house for my parents and help them to move, since they are aging and are unable to complete it themselves. I just do not know where to start.
Contact the supplier of log home (even are around 20 years?) and ask them to recommend some carpenters in your area. You want someone who understands the concept of a log house, as the house settles so than the construction of others, and finishing details are handled differently. Kitchens installed against the outside (or any log walls) offer a challenge especially in how they are anchored to the wall. If the electrical and plumbing need to be completed here, be sure you are satisfied with the approach and the end result will be. You are a kind and caring son to tackle this project for their parents. Best wishes for success in their implementation.
